Aspen was born 11 days past her due date, after multiple chiropractic adjustments, an acupuncture session, and all the 'home remedies' to kickstart labor. Needing her to come within 3 days, by God's grace I started going into labor Sunday, 1/10/21 around 7 am. That day was seemingly going by at a crawl, as contractions were steady but not intense. They were 5 minutes apart by 6 PM. By 9:30, Kassidy came to check me, as my contractions were then 3 minutes apart. Almost unbelievably, I was only at a 2! After laboring all night, with no sleep and contractions growing more intense, we went to get an adjustment by Emily at 9 am, and Kassidy checked me again then. I was at a 4, and was able to come into the birthing center. HOORAY!! We went home to have a breakfast, and returned at the birth center an hour later. By then, I was at a 6! We thought that miss Aspen would be making herself into the world quickly now! For the rest of my labor, contractions were on top of each other, or 30 seconds to a minute apart, and I was having intense back pain in between each one.
After 2 separate trips in the birthing tub, another adjustment, Nitrous-Oxide for the last 3 hours, and a cervical lip that had me dilating slower than we all expected, Aspen FINALLY made her 9 lb, 2 oz arrival at 10:46 PM, on 1/11/21. The All About Babies birth center was so peaceful and calm even in the midst of the chaos of labor. Kassidy, Megan, and Kendall were amazing midwives, and tended to my every need so well. They were kind, and knowledgeable, and I felt the presence of the Lord in them so heavily. They prayed over me, we worshiped together, and really made it a team effort to get Aspen here. Even after my 39 hour labor, 1 hour of pushing, I had the best experience I could've asked for because of these women and this facility. I will be having every one of my children here, and hopefully next time, they will get here a lot sooner, LOL!
